Shake Up Imagination

The sound of a shaking box of LEGOs is nostalgic and represents endless possibilities of creativity and imagination. We gave our customers that same classic feeling in a shopping experience they can only experience on Amazon.

Working client-direct with LEGO, we shifted the content strategy away from the concept that parents and gift-givers are shopping for a LEGO toy, and towards the idea that they are shopping for the kid they know.

The customer selects an age range and a statement describing the child they are shopping for. After a quick shake of the device (and an audible reminder of what a shaking box of LEGOs sounds like), a curated, relevant gift recommendation is presented. The customer can repeatedly shake and keep receiving new recommendations until all gifts relevant to the inputs have been shown.

Cool thing: The shopping experience created and technology stack built to make this was deemed so innovative and showed the potential for scale and productization that it is currently patent-pending, and we should hear from the USPTO later this year.

*I’m not actually friends with Chris Pratt and Jimmy Fallon. It was just more fun to put in their names instead of blurring out names of people I actually know.
